Your Online Resume Has A Big Problem . . . It’s Called COMPETITION!

I know. I know. You’ve spent a lot of time putting together an online resume that you can be proud of. You’ve scoped out job websites like Monster and HotJobs. And your enthusiastic about the exposure you’ll get and the probability that thousands of employers can see your credentials.

It all makes a lot of sense, especially since you know some people who got their jobs this way. So, why shouldn’t it work for you?

The straightforward answer probably not . . . at least not if you’re serious about finding a job you’re happy with. And not if you’re willing to wait weeks or months till something comes along.

You see, an online resume is the easy way out . . . but definitely not the fastest or best way. OK. There are two ways to use an online resume:

1. Post it on several job search websites.

2. Create your own website or blog featuring your resume.

The problem with this approach can be summed in one word: COMPETITION! There are hundreds of thousands of online resumes floating around in cyber space . . . all posted by folks who are just as enthusiastic as you. So, be realistic. What are your chances that exactly the right boss is going to pick your resume and offer you a job?

Sadly, the most recent studies indicate some shocking news. Less than 8% of job offers originate online!

Look, it’s only natural that you want to get as much exposure as possible. Nothing wrong with that. But the online resume and one of those job websites is definitely NOT the way to go . . . at least if you don’t plan to spend weeks or months looking for a job.

I suppose we’re all victims of “do it fast and easy” electronic techniques. It seems logical. The internet provides global exposure for our credentials. All we have to do is wait for one or two of those millions of internet users (many of whom are employers) to discover our resume . . . theoretically.

However, mass exposure didn’t work in the days before the internet. And it doesn’t work now. It’s really just a question of statistics. Very few job hunters have found “opportunities” that match their credentials. Notice, I didn’t say job offers.

Job search experts know that relying on an online resume or a digital job search is very frustrating. This doesn’t mean that every so often someone hits. But you’re more likely to get struck by lightning or win the lottery. There has to be a better way!

So, what’s the solution? Well, if you can put aside a digital resume and all forms of electronic or analog mass marketing and learn a few simple alternative job search strategies, you can be looking at honest, real job offers that match up with your interests in as little as two weeks!

It all starts with plan that shows you how to get in front of selected decision-makers in a matter of days. And then how to cut a deal that meets your requirements. Once you have a success blueprint in front of you, the sky’s the limit!
